Some years ago I was fascinated with the fragrance of Gardenia.
After a few years of disappointment I was able to grow them to my liking.
Now they are 6 feet tall and in full bloom, yes sir my eyes say so but my nose failed to acknowledge it (under the nose it is still the sweetest smelling}, whereas in case of Motia it was the otherway round.
I have decided to keep only one plant and replace the others with MOTIA.

It is also no good as a cut flower, the opening bud just stops where it was and next day you have to throw it out.
I am keeping one just to be able to say I ALSO HAVE IT.

Two thai varieties are commonly available in Lahore. One is the tietensis double which is with very broad ugly leaves and not a compact plant but tolerates high PH overwatering. The other is vietanese gardenia with single flowers very fragrant. Both thrive on neglect.
