Red Alert: Mealy Bugs on the march.

Post by mikhurram »

Today i noticed newly hatched eggs of Mealy bugs outside room walls. These bugs start laying their eggs in December and start climbing over the walls and trees in January. At this stage this menace can be controlled easily by adhering to the following guidelines.

Start spraying the walls where tiny minuscule mealy bugs are climbing with regular pesticides by keeping a vigil on their movement.
Sprinkle the "Seven Seas Insectiside powder" along with 'Green Pesticide Granules' available at Pride Seeds shop on edges of earth near the walls. After putting this powder and the green granules in soil near the edges of the wall spray with water. This would effectively kill the eggs hatched by Mealy Bugs laying in the ground. This only has to done once.

Wrap a polythene sheet around the tree trunks which hinder the movement of Mealy Bugs. At the beginning of May this polythene sheet should be removed.

By adopting these procedures for the past couple of years i managed to eliminate 90% of the mealy bugs in my home.
