first of all good drainage.roses can not tolerate wet feet.dig a hole 1 ft in the soil.fill it with water when the water diasapear fill it again.if the water disappear after 30 mnts,no dranage problem.secondly fungus.it normally attacks roses in moonsoon.so its a big threat nowadays.spray with Bayers ALIETTE.it will prevent the fungus.in future spray anti fungus before arriving of the moonsoon to stop the fungus.thid factor is good air circulation.keep at least 2.5 ft dis when planting new bushes.prune hard as hard u can prune after 15 DEC.Keep in mind pruning can be good as well as bad.prune when u re expecting the danger of frost will be gone when new buds will sprout.normaly frost decreases after 10-15 dec.

I think such a mixture will be very corrosive to roses especially if not mixed in proper proportions. Copper sulfate is highly acidic and sodium carbonate is highly alkaline. I have seen lime-copper sulfate mixture being used on large trees but not sure how good such mixtures are on small plants.
