Nurseries in KPK

Following is the account of some plant sources for people residing in Khyber Pakhtunkhawa.

Members may help us in narrating plant sources of their respective Areas( Province / City ). May include information such as Plants offered, rough location and their experience.

Risalpur
Not much to go shopping plants here. The only nursery available is Shoaib Nursery close to Mardan motorway interchange. Deals mostly in Perennials. However some cool season are also available in winters. You can find roses there also.

Nowshera
Considering that Nowshera is big city of KPK, you would think that you will find something there. You would be disappointed. Other than a newly constructed small nursery near PSO Pump(Below Risalpur-Mardan Bridge) there is absolutely nothing.

Tarnab
On your way to Peshawar, 10 Km short of the city is the town of Tarnab. Tarnab is famous for its Nurseries and has atleast 2 dozen of them. Mostly deal in Perennials(vast collection), grasses and fruit trees. However annuals are also available especially at Gulshan Nursery. Prices are cheap as compared to Islamabad for perennials. But for annuals you would be disappointed for limited range.

Haripur/Abbottabad
A place where you will find the healthiest plants in the province as well as more variety due to cooler/better climate. 2o Km down the Taxila-Haripur road are couple of good nurseries. Other you will find after exiting Haripur. Famous Khizra Nursery is located in Haripur Bazaar. Rates are slightly higher but that is due to the quality. Dahlias, Geraniums and Roses, you will find very good selection of plants exclusive to temperate climate.

Peshawar
Hayatabad, Close to Karkhanoo Market is a line of nurseries. Deals in all kinds of plants. Very good selections of annuals, infact you will find some seasonal plants that might not be available in Islamabad also. Rates are quite high.

Mardan
Mardan has couple of decent Nursuries at Mardan-Swabi Road on the outskirts of the city. One is Anwar Nursery and the other is Shoaib Nurery. Both have decent range of annuals and Perennials. Shoaib Nursery also keep good plug plants(in shoppers/Rs.10 per bag). Prices are reasonable. Two New small scale nurseries have recently been setup, when you enter mardan from Nowshera Road.

Takht Bai
Famous for strawberries. You will find few nurseries on the way to Takht Bai from Mardan. However strawberry runners are also available in Mardan Nuseries.

Islamabad
H-9. Its a complete nursery area. A gardeners heaven. Annuals, Perennials, Pots, Grasses, Bulbs, fertilizers almost everything. If its available in Pakistan its there(except typical tropical of Karachi). They bring plants from Patokki also. My favorite is Fatehpur Nursery where you will find everything at reasonable rates. Expect a little higher rates than other nurseries.
