Alstroemeria psittacina
I received this plant from USA few years ago. Its a beautiful and attractive plant. Is there any one, who is growing this beauty in his garden?

According to my experience, its very easy to grow plant, both under sun and shade.
It has roots same like daylily, I tried other varieties from seeds but no success. I will try to have roots of other colors.

This is a truly exotic plant. It.s been a while since we saw something out of the box. Can it take the sun or is it blooming for you in shade? Does it flower frequently or once a year? Evergreen? What is its maximum height for you?

Re: Alstroemeria psittacina
I would love to try this plant but when i asked this question "will alstroemeria grow in lahore" to famous horticulturist Zahrah nasir, she did not encourage me. check the second last question at this link:
http://dawn.com/2012/07/15/gardening-fr ... d-flavour/
According to this link http://flrec.ifas.ufl.edu/hort/environm ... ialsii.pdf (Page 29 onwards) it is said that the chilean Alstroemeria species have less heat tolerance as compared to brazilian ones.
I would like to try its rhizomes in fall in lahore specially the brazilian ones. Good to see gardeners trying new things
