Re: Rose Database
I am facing a problem here. A rose with the same name has different pics, available on the net. Even Changa sb confessed that they some time, two different branded branded nurseries will send two different looking roses with same name tag. Therefore, I would request knowledgeable members to keep giving their input. As Umar bhai says, so much of hybridisation has taken place in the field of roses that sometimes, it's very difficult to identify correctly. Than, their are breeders in different parts of the world who keep coming up with similar strains but name them differently.
I am realising now that I have stepped into something very difficult and confusing
It was far easier calling them just "a rose"

Pictures: From my collection of roses at my home in Okara.
PS: The pic given in the reference quoted above is different from the pic shown here, which is from a plant growning in my house. I bought it from Changa sb and he insisted that this is Micheal Angelo. On the net, you will also find pics of Micheal Angelo which are similar to what I purchased from Changa. Does it mean there are different strains with the same name or due to weather effect in different countries, there is a change in shade??

Swarthmore × Seedling
Breeder John Sheldon provided the following information about this rose: Some roses fade in the sun, some roses darken in the sun, some roses actually change color in the sun. Roses such as 'Elina','Double Delight', 'Headliner', 'Color Magic' and 'Paradise' all show these traits. In my breeding program, I have worked on making them more dramatic and bringing in new genes. And... it was an area of hybridizing that others were ignoring. At on point these traits were seen as faults. 'Double Delight' was almost discarded because it was thought to be just another WHITE rose. Only later were it's phototropic characteristics seen when it turned red in the sun.
