Late October to mid November sowing in a well drained soil, sow 2-3 inches deep, soil should be mixed with lots of compost... water it like any other annual.. when flowering is finished just cut the flowering stalk and keep watering plant as usual, the leaves will start getting yellow and dry by March end stop watering and dig the corms by mid April.. No fertilizer is required as such but you can use DAP in very small quantity once the shoots emerge..

Yes that is correct but I used to water them like normal plants and none rotted... another thing i missed is using a cane to keep the growing plant straight...

Sir is it practicable if you want to plant a few thousand commercially like him.Izhar wrote:Yes that is correct but I used to water them like normal plants and none rotted... another thing i missed is using a cane to keep the growing plant straight...
The new corm develops on top of old one so the new plant has little earth to support it and keep it erect, wouldn't it be better if the corms were planted a little deeper.

Not in our part of world but good commercial growers use wires to keep their plants upright straight... marked difference can be seen between supported and un-supported plants...
2-3 inch depth of sowing is good in my experience, what is your opinion??
