If you really want to stick to the cfl's than fix them with a reflector or component you usually see fitted on false ceilings in offices. This way light will always be projecting downwards on the surface and you will be making the most out if it by preventing loss of light. LEDs are also a very good option to consider. It's difficult to know exactly but if you could find led/cfl with high lumens and full spectrum with cri of above 90% you are all set.

Wow! This is really nice. I think i have finally found someone from Pakistan with similar interests. I have been a passive forum reader since the time i joined but i decided to search "aquarium" and found your thread. I see you are not acitve on this thread anymore. I would like to contact you for further information exchange and talk about planted tanks and i am into it as well. Site Admin/ Moderators is there any way we can contact "Khirmun"? Because it seems that he is not replying to this threads or PMs. Thank you
